On Wednesday, June 7th, at 1 PM, join the Melody Lake Association, the NYSDEC Region 7 Sustainability Committee, Cortland County Soil and Water and several of our association members to attempt to manually remove as many of these snails as possible!

Ashokan Rail Trail Invasive Species Workday

Ashokan Rail Trail Invasive Species Removal

This invasive species workday will be hands-on removal! We will identify and report species through iMapInvasives, and properly remove invasives at vistas along the trail.

Wellesley Island’s Swallow-Wort Shovel

Calling volunteers and Earth heroes of all ages! Help us protect our native habitat’s biodiversity by removing an invasive plant species called swallow-wort. Please bring work gloves and a good pair of shoes. Tools will be provided, but bring a gardening trowel and knee pads if you have them.

Participants do not have to pay the Park’s day-use fee. Groups will meet at the Nature Center for instructions at 10 am and again at 12 pm, stay as long as you’d like!

Invasive Species Pop-up at Swan River Preserve

Meet Cornell Cooperative Extension Suffolk County and the Long Island Invasive Species Management Area at the Swan River Preserve in Patchogue. Chat with our education professionals about the site’s history, invasive species, and restoration efforts. You can also take a self-guided tour around the preserve with plant information cards, or bring gloves to help us pull some weeds!

Looking Glass Pond Water Chestnut Pull

Come join CRISP in pulling invasive water chestnut at the beautiful Looking Glass Pond!

CRISP will provide all the equipment you need to thwart water chestnut except for watercraft. Participants will need to bring their own kayak, canoe, rowboat, etc. All outside vessels brought should be decontaminated prior to the event or have been out of the water for 2+ weeks.

Make sure to pack a lunch and dress for the weather! Rain or shine water chestnut will be pulled! (barring thunderstorms or torrential downpour)
