Join naturalists with the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program, Essex County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Champlain Area Trails for an educational invasive species walk along the Wadhams Lookout Trail in Westport. The walk will begin in the parking area on state Route 22 at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 11. Attendees will learn basic plant identification techniques, what makes a species invasive, and how to report invasive species as they walk along the trail. Various invasive species such as buckthorn and Japanese barberry will be identified along the way.

The total hike to Wadhams Lookout from the parking area is 0.3 miles long. The trailhead is on state Route 22, 0.3 mi east of Wadhams. We ask everyone participating in the walk to bring the appropriate gear, including water and snacks, for spending a couple of hours in the woods.

If the weather is bad, the rain date is Thursday, June 12 from 10:00am-noon. Attendees are encouraged to register so they can receive updates.
