Terrestrial Management Workshop: Invasive Forest Pests and Diseases

FreeThis free 2-hour workshop, presented by WNY PRISM, includes a classroom presentation on Best Management Practices for invasive forest pests and diseases including hemlock woolly adelgid, spongy moth, spotted lanternfly and beech leaf disease. WNY PRISM staff will review specific physical, chemical and biological control options during the presentation and demonstrate them further in the field. The objective of this workshop is to provide specific information to professionals, community scientists and the public so they can effectively identify and treat these invasive species on their properties.
Field demonstration will include a review of pesticide application methods including basal bark, tree injection, soil drench and soil injection. The field portion will also involve inspecting trees for signs of invasive pests and diseases and discussing manual removal options.
This workshop will offer two NYS pesticide recertification credits in the following categories:
Category 2: Forest Pest Control
Category 3a: Ornamentals, Shade Trees and Turf
To receive credits, you must register at least 24 hours before the workshop, show up early to sign in, bring your photo ID and applicators license, and attend the entire workshop.
