Join SLELO PRISM’s Facebook Live as we kick off the Bioblitz26 on Saturday June 13th. We’ll begin between 10-10:30 AM with periodic pop-ins throughout the day to share exciting discoveries, field highlights, and real-time updates from across the region. Tune in, learn something new, and celebrate the incredible biodiversity that surrounds us. Let’s explore together.
The term is a combination of “bio” (life) and “blitz” (a quick, intense efforts). It can be described as an intensive, short-term event where scientists, naturalists, and community volunteers work together to find and identify as many species as possible in a specific area and period of time. Its primary goal is to create a “snapshot” of local biodiversity while engaging the public in hands-on conservation and scientific discovery.
