Partnerships for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISMs)
Legislation enacted in 2003 called for a multi-interest (state agencies, conservation organizations and trade) team lead by DEC and state Agriculture and Markets to explore the invasive species issue and to provide recommendations to the state.
Among the recommendations of the NYS Invasive Species Task Force was the formation of eight Partnerships for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISMs) to prevent or minimize the harm caused by invasive species on New York's environment, economy and the health and well-being of the State's citizens. PRISMs will coordinate invasive species management functions including coordinating partner efforts, recruiting and training citizen volunteers, identifying and delivering education and outreach, establishing early detection monitoring networks and implementing direct eradication and control efforts.
In October 2008, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Pete Grannis announced the signing of a five-year contract with the Adirondack Park Invasive Plant Program (APIPP), an award-winning program focused on detecting and eradicating invasive plant species in the Adirondack Park. The contract, the first of its kind, will assist APIPP to transition from an invasive plant program to an all taxa PRISM.

PRISM Listserves
To facilitate communication within and among PRISMs, eight e-mail "listserves" (or electronic mailing lists) have been established, one for each of the eight PRISMs. The PRISM
listserves are managed by the Cornell Cooperative Extension Invasive Species Program.
To join (subscribe to) a PRISM listserve, send an e-mail to:
listname-request@cornell.edu
where listname is the name of the list you want to join, including the hyphen and the letter L at the end of the list name. Leave the "Subject" line blank and enter the word "join" (without the " ") in the body of the e-mail.
[For example, to subscribe to
the Catskill PRISM (CRISP) you would type: cce-crisp-l-request@cornell.edu] Note: only members of a listserve can post messages to that list.
The names of the eight PRISM listserves are:
