Governor Cuomo Signs Bill Aiding in Fight Against Aquatic Invasive Species

Taking another significant step forward in the fight against invasive species in New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation prohibiting the launch of watercraft in New York State without taking reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species.  New Yorkers owe a debt of gratitude for the passage of this legislation to bill sponsors Senator Thomas O'Mara and Assemblymember Barbara Lifton for their leadership on this issue in the Legislature, and to the many lake associations, elected officials, and private and public organizations across the state that weighed in on this important issue.
